Therapy with James
“I’m not the professional in the room. You are.” You’ve lived your life. You know what’s worked, and what hasn’t. Life is not only challenging, but complex and one approach does not suit everyone. The relationship between you and your therapist is essential for the best possible outcome in therapy.
James takes a Rogerian Client-Centered Approach to therapy, where he will provide a non-judgmental, safe, warm, and accepting environment. He views both himself and the client as the teacher and student. Therapy with James is a collaborative process in which client can identify and develop the skills needed to reach personal goals.
James’ areas of expertise include anxiety, depression, personality disorders, life transitions, self-esteem, relationship/family issues, substance abuse, and trauma. He is trained in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Rational-Emotive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Informed Care, Nurtured Heart, and Motivational Interviewing.
As life continues to speed up and become more complex, it can become more difficult to find happiness and contentment in your life. I commend you for taking a step toward bettering your life. You deserve it, and I would be honored to join you on your journey.
James is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC). He has a Master’s Degree from John Jay College in Forensic Mental Health Counseling.
